Child Poverty and Cognitive Development
The Unit of Applied Neurobiology (UNA) is a neuroscientific and psychological research laboratory at the CEMIC Research Department and part of the CEMIC-CONICET Implementation Unit.
The UNA was founded in 1989 by Dr. Jorge A. Colombo, a CONICET Researcher. From its origin, the UNA was established as an interdisciplinary center for the basic and applied study of the organization and reorganization processes in the central nervous system.
Currently, the UNA research projects are aimed at:
- Studying how poverty is associated with self-regulatory development (cognitive and emotional) during the first two decades of life;
- The design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions aimed at optimizing children's self-regulatory development; and
- The transfer of this knowledge to the design and evaluation of early childhood policies.
